Feature Plant

Hydrangea macrophylla

This deciduous shrub reaches 4-8' high and wide with a rounded habit.  Large, thick, coarsely toothed leaves.  Large flower clusters in deep pink, purple, blue, or white.  Flower color can be manipulated by the amount of acid in the soil; High acid produces blue, alkaline-red. Flowers are produced on old wood.  Hydrangeas do well in sunset zones 3B-9, 14-24, HI. They thrive in our area with partial sun/afternoon shade, require regular water, and make a great cut flower fresh and dried.
